This site is both my weblog & my business site. If you are looking for information about my business and associates, click on the “Bio” and “Services” tab at the top of the site.
My blog offers personal reflections – my thoughts on community, passion, purpose, playtime and paychecks.
For the past five years, my focus has been the aging population. Recently, I’ve been asked to share my ideas about innovative projects/programs targeted to Aging BABY BOOMERS those of us who are reaching the age of 50 and beyond. My interests led me here – to Wordpress – to exchange info and experiences with like-minded folks. I feel like I’m still on the leading edge – blogging, tweeting, making/editing videos and recording music on my computers – two MacBook Pros and a brand new G5.
Your comments are most welcome. Follow my blog for new and innovative ideas about our rapidly aging population – here in my community – my own little corner of the world. Contact me if you want more info about my professional services.
A few years ago, I took a 12 month break and went in search of “the rest of my life.”
After a brief experience with “traditional retirement”, I decided to go back to University. There I discovered a new vision – the big idea of building a network for aging boomers that would provide support, access to information, economic benefits and a sense of community. Lifelong eductors call this “even higher” education—turning experience into significance or using our experience to give birth to something new.
Some of us have decided to embark on a third or fourth career – redefining the concept of retirement in our own lives. The “new retirement” is said to be part time education, part time leisure and part time work.
I call it “Passion – Purpose – Playtime – AND Paycheck.”
My interests led me to study aspects of Canada’s aging population and I landed at the doorstep of a concept called A SILVER ECONOMY – a model for community economic development and social enterprise.
My sabbatical helped me develop a strategy to fully integrate my past career experiences with new plans and interests. And so – a new career was born. I have re-invented myself more times than Madonna!
Older people want to remain involved and a vital part of the community. Personally, I include “work” in my definition of creative self-expression. I believe my research and creative ideas have resulted in new and innovative programs/projects that build on this understanding and will result in social and economic benefits for people my age and older.
I offer consulting services, training workshops and unique presentations on late career development and later life transitions with a strong desire to share everything I have learned through my own process.
